Glossary Content
A
Access request
A submission made through the Briarlouh enquiry form in which a user indicates that they would like to make use of a specific service function or capability. An access request is not an application in a formal legal sense; it is an expression of intent that the team reviews and responds to individually. Submitting an access request does not constitute an agreement or a confirmation of access.
AI-assisted classification
The use of machine learning techniques to automatically assign categories, labels, or groupings to pieces of information. Within Briarlouh, AI-assisted classification is used to organise service content and to route incoming enquiries to the appropriate team member. It supports human review rather than replacing it.
C
Capability
A function or feature that the Briarlouh platform is designed to provide. Capabilities are described on the Capabilities page of this site. They reflect the intended design of the platform rather than independently verified operational performance. Users should read capability descriptions as informational statements rather than guarantees.
Content classification
The process of organising service information into meaningful categories so that it can be navigated efficiently. Briarlouh uses content classification to ensure that the information on each page is relevant to the page's stated purpose and that links between related content are clear and consistent.
E
Enquiry
A message submitted by a user through the Briarlouh contact form. An enquiry may be a general question, an access request, a support need, or a request for additional information. All enquiries are reviewed by the Briarlouh team and responded to by email.
Enquiry form
The structured form available on the Enquiries page of the Briarlouh site. It collects the user's name, email address, request type, and a free-text message. Submissions are transmitted by email directly to the Briarlouh team. The form does not involve a backend server-side processing step beyond the email delivery mechanism.
I
Information centre
A description of the Briarlouh platform's primary function: a structured environment in which information about the service is organised and presented for user review. The term reflects the platform's purpose of making service information accessible and navigable rather than generating new information dynamically.
Information organisation
The activity of arranging information into a coherent structure so that it can be retrieved and understood efficiently. Briarlouh applies AI-assisted methods to information organisation in the context of structuring service content and managing incoming enquiries.
N
Navigation
Within the Briarlouh platform, navigation refers to the system of links and labels that allow users to move between the site's pages. Navigation is designed to reflect the actual content of each page and to provide a predictable path from general information to specific detail.
P
Platform
Used in this site to refer to the Briarlouh service environment as a whole — including the website, the information it contains, the enquiry form, and the team's response process. The term does not imply a software application, a mobile app, or a transactional system unless explicitly stated.
S
Service scope
The range of functions and areas covered by the Briarlouh service. Service scope is described on the Service Guide page and the Service Details page. It includes the activities the service is designed to support and, importantly, the activities it does not include.
Structured information
Information that has been arranged in a defined format or sequence to aid comprehension. On the Briarlouh site, structured information typically appears as headings, lists, and clearly labelled sections rather than continuous unformatted text.
U
User
Any individual who accesses the Briarlouh website. The platform is designed for users who want to understand the Briarlouh service, review its capabilities, and decide whether to submit an enquiry. The term is used in a general sense and does not imply that the person has an account or an active relationship with Briarlouh Services Ltd.
